Who We Are

BoardK12 is a K-12 district data dashboard platform operated by Sunflower, LLC ("we," "our," or "us"), a New Jersey limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information through boardk12.com and the BoardK12 platform.

Information We Collect

From district administrators: We collect account credentials (email and password), district name, and contact information provided during onboarding or through our contact form.

From public dashboard visitors: We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) from members of the public who view embedded BoardK12 dashboards. Aggregate, anonymized usage analytics (page views, session duration) may be collected.

From demo and contact requests: When you submit a demo request or contact form, we collect your name, email, role, district, and any message you include.

How We Use Information

• To provide and improve the BoardK12 dashboard platform
• To communicate with district administrators about their account
• To respond to demo requests and support inquiries
• To send product updates (administrators may opt out at any time)
• To comply with applicable laws and regulations

FERPA Alignment

BoardK12 is designed for use by K-12 school districts subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We do not collect student education records or student PII. All data displayed within BoardK12 dashboards is district-controlled and administrator-curated. We act as a service provider to the district and process data only as directed by the district.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share information with trusted service providers who assist in operating our platform (e.g., email delivery, hosting infrastructure) under strict confidentiality agreements. We will disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage of credentials, and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we encourage districts to maintain strong password practices and report any suspected security issues to support@askk12.com.

Cookies and Tracking

We use session cookies necessary to keep administrators logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies. Anonymous analytics may be collected using privacy-respecting, cookieless methods.

Data Retention

We retain account data for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days after termination. Demo request and contact form data is retained for up to 12 months. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@askk12.com.

Children's Privacy

BoardK12 is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from students. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Continued use of BoardK12 after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
